Here are some jobs that need doing in October, 2006, in order of immediate importance.  This list will change as projects change.   Email us at wpc@igc.org with your availability and interests. 

Renovation:

A new office is being prepared for the Peace Center, and needs volunteers who will help with carpentry, painting, wiring and plumbing.   We're having work parties every Sunday at  noon (call first - 202-234-2000 or 202-682-4282)

Office Work:

We need five or six regular volunteers who can come at least one afternoon a week to help us:

-    maintain and update the mailing list, donor records, and gift acknowledgements
-    make sure the Activist Alert gets out each Tuesday

Peacemaker of the Year Awards (December 2nd):

We need to get to work now to be sure this is a big success.
Website Development:

Peace Letter:

Volunteers to do layout, writing or collecting articles, and editing of the quarterly Peace Letter.  Knowledge of Pagemaker helpful.

Join the Tech Committee! 

Looking for talented volunteers to make http://washingtonpeacecenter.net an exciting, user-friendly calendar and blog.  Everybody - Please look at this site and give us your thoughts, even if you're not a techie, creative and constructive ideas are needed!

Campus Outreach and Other Tabling:

We have stacks of Peace Letters that we'd like to distribute to the Student Unions of all universities in the area, and to hand out at events.  Stacks have been delivered to  George Mason and George Washington Universities, but need help with the rest (Howard, American, Catholic, UDC, U Maryland).

Watch the Activist Alert and decide which events you might want to table at, and let us know!

Peace Education:

Help with Peace Studies programs.  Mkawasi Mcharo will be giving a workshop soon, so let us know if this is what you want to do.

Peace Talks:

Help organize events such as the Congolese Speakers’ Tour (Paul Pumphrey).

Archiving:

We’re preparing years of archives to donate to American University library.
