«Wednesday October 01, 2008»
Start: Oct 1 2008 - 11:30am
End: Oct 1 2008 - 1:30pm

Currently, the Examiner for the State of Maryland Public Service Commission is reviewing evidence prior to making a decision on an application filed by UniStar (Constellation Energy) for the construction of a new 1710 MW nuclear reactor. If built, this reactor would join two existing reactors at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant on the Chesapeake Bay in Calvert County.

The Chesapeake Safe Energy Coalition opposes the construction of a new, double-size, EPR experimental design reactor on the basis that nuclear power is “costly” to Marylanders. In addition to being expensive, nuclear power is not a healthy, safe, clean, or green solution to satisfying Maryland’s energy needs.

Join concerned citizens in saying NO to more nuclear power at a legal, peaceful protest!

Start: Oct 1 2008 - 12:00pm
End: Oct 1 2008 - 1:00pm

As part of a national day of action, “Billionaires for the Bailout” are meeting in the heart of Washington D.C. and making a special visit to their favorite banks that stand to make a profit from the proposed bailout. Come join the crowd of community members saying NO to the Billionaire’s proposal and YES to a real economic recovery package.

Join DC Jobs with Justice and allies in the struggle for social and economic justice to demand REAL economic reform that puts Main Street before Wall Street.

This week, in a “fast-tracked” process similar to the one that brought us the Patriot Act, Congress tried to pass a horrendous give-away package to greedy and unscrupulous bankers and corporate interests who created the conditions and mess we’re currently in. In a time when America wants a new direction, new politics, and new ideas to move us forward, we’re seeing Washington play their same old-games at the expense of the American taxpayer.

Join us in saying NO to the Billionaires for the Bailout!

Start: Oct 1 2008 - 12:00pm
End: Oct 1 2008 - 3:00pm

CODEPINK invites you to join us in a "TAXPAYER REVOLT," two days of resistance to the bipartisan BAILOUT for BILLIONAIRES about to be foisted on the American taxpayer! The House will vote on the bill on Monday, and the Senate will likely vote on Wednesday. Please join us!

Some of us will be performing "Die-Ins" at both of these actions. Others will be simply expressing their outrage. Feel free to bring your own messaging!

Tell Congress we won't take this lying down (even during the "Over Our Dead Body" Die-Ins): "No Bailouts for Billionaires," "No Swindles for Speculators," "Protect Main Street Not Wall Street," "No Taxpayer-Funded Golden Parachutes!"

We will begin Wednesday's demonstration at the office of Finance chair Christopher Dodd, and from there we will march to the offices of Senator's John McCain and Barack Obama.

Let's protest against this latest power grab by the administration and the Congress that never stops TAKING!

Start: Oct 1 2008 - 8:00pm
End: Oct 1 2008 - 10:00pm

Christian Fascist Rick Santorum is speaking at the Catholic U on
Wednesday Oct 1st at 8:00pm in great room A in the Edward J Pryazabla
center. Join others who speak against hate by attending his speech and
exactly 15 minutes after he starts speaking stand up on your seat and
turn your back to him. Show him we don't live in the 1600s anymore,
that gay people are human, the women should not be forced to stay in
the kitchen their whole lives, and that women are more then
incubators.

This action can have much power if a large number of people of do it.
We can  prove that Human Dignity is still a Catholic Value even if
some people don't want it to be.
