A new chapter in the history of the U.S. labor movement began in 1995 with the founding of UNITE HERE. The merger of two of the nation’s oldest unions formed the new union: the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union and the Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Workers Union.
