ASSISI COMMUNITY is a small, intentional, catholic Christian community of individuals and families, North Americans and Central Americans, who are striving to live faithfully the Gospel call to work for a more just and peaceful world.  Each member’s work for social transformation nourishes our communal life.  At times we participate as a community in a particular project.  We are sisters to a base community in El Salvador and a sanctuary for refugees at risk.  Our communal lifestyle is intentionally simple as an expression of solidarity with those who live in want, and as a sign of life- giving values in a consumer society.  Our common life is centered on morning prayers, an evening meal, and weekly “house meetings.” We have retreats twice per year.  Tasks in the community are equally shared.  There is no single authority.  Decisions are made by consensus.
